When one talks about manufacturing or use of inflations it must be remembered it is one of the few items that comes in direct contact with the animal. The purpose of the parts is to remove the milk from the animal as gently and as quickly as possible. Inflations are chemically complex with as high as twenty different ingredients homogenously blended together to form a uniformly integrated entity. With most compounds this is accomplished through a blender, mill mixing or through a combination of Internal mixers such as a (Banbury) and mill mixing.
There are several means of marking or date coding, the one that is chosen is based upon how much information that the manufacturer, supplier or end-user wants or needs to know.
Venting of air into the milk stream Venting of air into the milk stream has become a very important need of today’s high producing cows. The problem of not venting can be duplicated quite easily; try pouring gasoline out of a container without having the vent open. The fluid will flow out slowly until the vent is opened. The same problem is found with the milk flowing from the inflations. There are many ways of venting. There can be venting of the shell such as in the Bou-Matic Visi shell, venting can be accomplished in the milk tube of the inflation or there can be venting done in the claw that receives the milk from the inflations via the milk tubes. Some companies even furnish a plastic nipple that is between the inflation body and the milk tube that can be supplied with or without a air vent molded in it. The best location would be that closest to the source of the fluid’s origin, which would place the Bou-Matic concept as the best.
The manufacturing of inflations is very complex much like an orchestra conductor working hard to get all musicians and instruments to work in harmony with each other. Likewise, in inflation manufacturing the mixing, molding and processing requires complete knowledge, performance and dedication of all involved.
